TEENSGIVING is an annual one-day-only event in which over 500 teens and 100 adult volunteers participate in different community service projects all throughout New York City. Last year the teens joined with Adopt a US Soldier, Pediatric Cancer Foundation, LES Ecology Center, Make A Child Smile, Hearthstone Alzheimer Center, United Cerebral Palsy, Jamie RoseCenter, Inwood House, Cabrini Center, Women-In-Need, Partnership for Parks, and the Abraham Residence (to name a few) in providing much-needed community assistance. This two-year Fellowship empowers youth from around New York City to participate in civic leadership workshop, community service, and meetings with today’s City leaders. First-year Fellows may expect monthly skill-building workshops, where Fellows will work on skills such as personal leadership style, networking, public speaking, facilitating skills, conflict management, marketing and more! In addition, Fellows will participate in a specialized-action committee focused on grantmaking, appreciating New York City’s diverse communities through photography, or understanding diversity in the workplace, which includes participating in a six-week summer internship.

The commitment includes two monthly meetings from 5pm – 7pm in midtown Manhattan, participating in an overnight retreat in late August, and attending the Youth Summit in October. Other special opportunities are always popping up like meeting with the FBI, attending a Mayoral event at Gracie Mansion, or other community service events!
