Waheed Ameen is a former YouthBridge student (2007-2009) and Queens native. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to the states at the age of 6 months. Waheed is the oldest of three children and currently lives with his girlfriend in Brooklyn. His career has taken him to many places within the sports industry including: the NBA, New York Athletic Club, and New York Knicks. Waheed is currently the Basketball Operations Assistant for the Brooklyn Nets. He received his bachelor's degree in Journalism/Mass Communication (minor in History w/ concentration in Modern Middle East studies) from St. Bonaventure University and his master's degree in Sport Management from St. John's University. When he's not talking strategy for the Brooklyn Nets, you can find him reading on his kindle, trying a new recipe on the NYT cooking app, or gearing up for a year-round season of adult sports leagues including basketball and softball.
